Sermon: Among the Thorns

In this message from our Parable of the Sower series, we explore Jesus’ warning about “The Thorny Soil.” In Luke 8:4–15, Jesus explains that the seed is the Word of God, and the soil represents the condition of our hearts. The thorny soil represents those who hear the Word, but as life goes on, the message becomes choked by worries, riches, and the pleasures of this life. Many people begin their faith journey with sincerity, yet spiritual growth becomes crowded out by everyday concerns and worldly pursuits. In this sermon we examine: • How worry and anxiety can choke spiritual growth • How the pursuit of wealth and success can distract us from God • How the pleasures of life can slowly crowd out devotion to Christ • How we can guard our hearts so the Word of God can truly grow Jesus reminds us that it is possible to hear the Word yet fail to bear mature fruit. This message challenges us to examine our hearts and remove the spiritual “thorns” that hinder our walk with God. 📖 Scripture: Luke 8:4–15 (NASB) May this message encourage you to make room in your heart for the Word of God so that it can grow freely and produce lasting fruit.
