Sermon: The King We Didn’t Expect

What kind of King is Jesus—and how should we receive Him? On the very first Palm Sunday, the streets of Jerusalem were filled with shouting, palm branches, and high expectations. But while the crowd was cheering for a political hero to fix their circumstances, God was sending a humble King on a donkey to save their souls. In this message, we walk through John 12:12–16 to explore the profound difference between the King we imagine and the King we truly need. We look at the powerful symbolism of the Passover Lamb, the “Hosanna” cry of the heart, and the challenge of abdicating the throne of our own lives to let Jesus truly reign. In this sermon, you will discover: Why Jesus chose a donkey instead of a war horse. The “Vending Machine” trap: Are we seeking a Fixer or a Savior? How the Holy Spirit “connects the dots” between our head and our heart. The final question: Is Jesus a guest in your life, or is He on the throne?
